On the new high-performance feeder 780, an independent, dedicated drive ensures reliable and trouble-free sheet transport. The low-maintenance drive eliminates wear-prone components such as cardan shafts and chain drives. The new feeder is at the same time especially simple to operate thanks to its clear layout. It handles all qualities of metal sheet with ease, and that up to a thickness of 0.5 mm.

Infeed

The extremely flat sheet travel has received a further significant face-lift on the Mailänder 280. Newly designed front lays contribute to enhanced register accuracy. The lateral and circumferential register are controlled remotely from the console. Diagonal register adjustment is a manual setting as standard, but is also available in an optional motorised version.

Inking unit - fast and slim

Probably the greatest innovation has been the incorporation of the complete printing tower from the MetalStar press. With this modern inking and dampening unit, the Mailänder 280 now also possesses a fast-reacting and stable printing unit capable of the highest print quality. The optimum heat dissipation, furthermore, ensures fast attainment of an ink-water balance and thus reduces start-up waste.

ColorTronic ink ducts

The high repeat accuracy of previously set ink profiles can be attributed to the unique, bleed-free ink metering in the ColorTronic ink duct. The ceramic-coated duct roller for the new Mailänder 280 press is characterised by its ultimate flexural rigidity. The ink duct calibration remains unchanged over even longer periods, and print quality is maintained at the highest level.

Washing systems

Automatic roller washing is naturally standard on the Mailänder 280. The blankets can also be washed with the automatic cloth-based washing system. The washing programs can be defined and selected individually for each printing unit at the console.

DriveTronic SRW - Simultaneous Roller Wash

The ink roller washing has always been one of the most time-consuming makeready processes at the printing unit. Thanks to a separate drive which enables the inking unit to run independently of the rest of the press, ink rollers and blankets can be washed at the same time. Washing times on the Mailänder 280 are thus drastically reduced.

ErgoTronic ACR – Register measurement

ErgoTronic ACR is a console-integrated register measuring system. The hand-held measuring head is used to evaluate register marks on the printed sheets. The control function then calculates the necessary corrections for lateral, circumferential and diagonal register.
